Nothing is more compatible with anything than it was before. I only have the RennMaxx bundle and IR 1, so no big deal, but honestly I have NO IDEA why I just gave them money. Their plugins are great, so maybe what I'll do is contact Waves and see if sales is willing to work with me on a deal.Īlexkemp wrote:I paid to re-up my WUP and got the v6, but honestly, its made absolutely no difference to me (and in fact led to a day's worth of downtime while some snafu got sorted out). And before they implemented the $200 WUP cap, the WUP pricing was outrageous. The issue I had was that WUP didn't bring me anything new or substantial, so I held back from adding more Waves to my studio. I've been with Waves a LONG time, and paid a lot into the WUP program. If you go for a bigger bundle, what would you consider getting? Have you checked the SSL or API ones?

From there I went up to the Platinum (getting free WUP), and I am seriously considering getting the Mercury. BUT, now that they seem to be supporting DP6, they are my friends again, and I'll gladly give them my business.

I've critisized Waves heavily in the past, but NEVER for the quality, but for that period of lack of DP5 support. But usually they do so because, they can't afford them and are jealous ( ), or have felt offended by Waves' less-than-stelar customer support and WUP issues. They get a lot of bad talk in a lot of forums by a lot of people. If you were in my position, would you go for a new WUP extension (either by writing a note to Waves about the DP issues or by paying the $120 they want for another year), or would you sell the bundle and replace it with something else? There are no new plugins offered for that bundle. If you're like me though, and had your WUP extended as part of the DP5 mess, only to have that extension expire last month, then this upgrade doesn't make so much sense. Now if you have WUP in place, the upgrade is a no-brainer. If you don't have those bundles, you get nothing new apparently (which goes into the category of "What Are They Thinking?"). * Then they offer new plugins to only three bundles. * They offer "personalized upgrade paths," which again is not a new feature, but a policy/sales thing that has nothing to do with v6. Also, even though early reports seem to indicate DP6 and Waves 6 play okay together, until we get some hardcore use of the two new versions, it's not a given that Waves 6 and DP6 are completely happy together. Also given the mess with DP5, this "feature" should be free to all DP users IMHO. * They offer "complete compatibility" for platforms (which considering Leopard and Vista have been out for a long time seems a bit late to the party). They've added iLok support (which should have been there when they started using iLok for CP). * They've added TLC to WUP (which is a good thing, but is support, not a new feature in V6). SuperTap 6-taps added to Native power Pack.
